Benefits of dental implants

Natural look & feel

Dental implants offer one of the best solutions for missing teeth that most closely mimics the look and function of natural teeth while providing greater comfort than alternatives like dentures.

Prevents bone loss

Dental implants may help prevent the loss of bone density that occurs after you lose a tooth as the body “recognises” that bone is required to support the implant.

Protects adjacent teeth

One of the biggest advantages of dental implants is that they allow each tooth to stand alone, without disrupting neighbouring healthy teeth with invasive procedures.

Improved function and speech

With a full set of teeth, you will experience better comfort and greater confidence whilst speaking and eating.

Fixed, long-term solution

When taken care of well, dental implants can last decades and can function similarly to a natural tooth.

1. Initial consultation & treatment planning

Our dentists will discuss with you your specific treatment goals and determine whether dental implants is a suitable option. A 3D x-ray (CBCT) will then be taken to develop a customised treatment plan for you.

2. Implant placement

Multiple appointments may be required over the a period of 3 months to complete the surgical placement of the implant screw into the bone. Preparatory procedures (e.g. damaged tooth removal, bone grafting, or sinus lifting) may be necessary to provide a solid foundation for the implant.

3. Healing & integration

After the implant is placed, a healing period is required to allow the implant to fuse with your jawbone, a process called osseointegration. During this time, the bone grows around the implant, providing a solid base for your new artificial tooth.

4. Restoration

Once the implant has successfully integrated with the jawbone, an abutment is placed on top of the implant screw. A custom-made crown, bridge, or denture will then be attached to match your natural teeth.

5. Follow-up & maintenance

Regular check-ups and professional cleanings are essential to increase the longevity of your implants. Our team will provide you with personalised care instructions to help prevent complications and ensure long-term success.

Dental Implants FAQs

How long do dental implants last?
With good care, your implant can be a lifelong companion. The visible crown may need refreshing after 10-15 years, but the implant itself often lasts a lifetime.
Is the implant procedure painful?
The procedure is performed with gentle precision under local anesthesia. Most patients tell us they experienced much less discomfort than expected, with any post-procedure tenderness easily managed with over-the-counter pain relief.
How long does the dental implant process take?
The complete implant process typically takes 3-4 months from consultation to final restoration. This timeline allows for proper healing and integration of the implant with your jawbone.
How do I know if I'm a suitable candidate for implants?
Before proceeding with any treatment, our implant dentists will first perform a comprehensive examination in order to determine whether you are suitable for dental implant surgery. We will walk you through the advantages and disadvantages of dental implants as well as any other options that may be suitable for you.

Dental implants may be right for you if you:
- Have one or more missing teeth.
- Have enough bone to secure the implants or can have a bone graft.
- Have healthy tissues in your mouth.
- Don't have health conditions that can affect bone healing.
- Aren't able or willing to wear dentures.
- Want to improve your speech.
- Are willing to commit several months to the process.
What if I’m not a candidate for dental implants?
During your consultation, we'll discuss all available options. Even if traditional implants aren't suitable, we offer alternatives such as bridges, or modern denture solutions to restore your smile.
